Gifts to Share

The people who connect with Two Rivers Church are a very gifted bunch. We have artists, professionals, wise elders, and thoughtful caregivers. One of the gifts of community is the platform we provide each other to share our gifts in meaningful ways. And one of the pitfalls that busy pastors fall into, is doing too much on their own and trying to spin too many plates. “It’s easier if I just do it,” can sometimes be efficient and even necessary when needs feel urgent, but it’s not a fruitful strategy for long term wellbeing in a community like ours. So I’ve been grateful in recent weeks, to have some of our musically inclined folks offer up their leadership for our Sunday liturgies. We had Doris and Glen leading us this past Sunday, and you’ll see a diverse array of others leading songs in the new year as well. I’m also hoping that the new year will feature a more diverse set of voices being heard, in our reflection moments and offering up different spiritual practices, etc. It’s also been exciting to see a good bunch of Living Rooms on offer this January, some of which are led by new people from our community. If leading a liturgy, sharing a message, or guiding a Living Room feel a bit outside your comfort zone, then maybe offering something for our Time of Christmas Talent on December 14 is more up your alley.

My hope is that everyone who has a gift to share might find the space, encouragement, and opportunity they need to contribute in meaningful ways. Our community thrives when a diversity of gifts can be shared.
