Seasons of Rest

At the beginning of May, we at 2RC entered into an uncommon season. After only a year and a half, I stepped away… but only for a good time, not a long time. Sabbaticals are lovely rhythms of sabbath rest and rejuvenation afforded to people in certain (too few) vocations. And while a sabbatical after 18 months feels a little premature, it does align with the timeline of my time in ministry at the University of Guelph, where I’ve served for 10 years now. So until the end of August, I’ll be reading and resting and reimagining and reconnecting with a few hopes that get lost in the normal course of busyness and life. My hope is that I’ll return to you all in September a little bit better situated to serve the 2RC with creativity, imagination, and grace. Thanks to everyone who’s offered prayers, support, encouragement, book recommendations, cups of coffee, and cottage getaways during this season. And big thanks for those who have stepped in to offer gifts of leadership for our Sunday liturgies and more. What a blessing! As summer settles in, what rhythms of sabbath and sabbatical rest might be available to you? How might practices of rest and rejuvenation and even time away, help us be present to each other and to the Spirit at work amongst us? Good things to wonder during this uncommon season. Andrew
